WHAT ARE HAND POKED TATTOOS?

Q: What makes hand poked tattoos

different than machined tattoos?

A: The technique JJ uses is simply machine free. She uses actual, sterile tattoo needles, and just cuts out the machine, power supply, cords and foot peddles.

Q: So you don't just use a sewing needle?

A: Although she hashtags #professionalprisontattoo, it's more for fun and not because she busts out mom's sewing kit and a lighter (even prison tattoos are more sophisticated than that). She uses the same needles you'd be tattooed with at a "regular" tattoo shop.

Q: So you don't do it on the couch at your house?

A: No! We have a clean, health inspected studio, just like all the other reputable tattoo shops!

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Yep! But it's a different, less aggressive type of pain than machine tattoos. Many have said it felt like acupuncture and was actually quite relaxing.

Q: Is it permanent?

A: You bet! It seems to be a

misconception that they are only semi-permanent, but its just a myth. They're as permanent as machined tattoos.

Q: Do they take as long as a regular tattoo?

A: Generally they take longer. Because JJs hands don't work in high speed, they can't be completed as quickly as a tattoo done with a machine, but we promise you, it's worth it!
